So I’m a wee bit late today but better late than never right?

I had a fun but busy weekend that seemed to fly by without a moment of blogging to be had so I’m hoping the person that usually gets awakened by my posts every morning at 6:20am had her alarm set ;)

Since the past couple of weeks have been a lot of sharing from the heart and not always necessarily on the up side I thought this week I’d lighten it up a bit with some fun stuff.

Today I thought I’d share a few of the fun addictions I’ve had as of late. (If addictions are allowed to be fun … sometimes they aren’t when you can’t get enough!).

Here are a few of my fun, and if I can’t get enough, painful addictions …

* No. 1 is definitely Spell Tower.

A game that Starbucks gave out free app cards for this week. Oh. My. Goodness. CRAZY addictive (inspired this post actually). I’m not sure how but last night we got home from a family gathering and it was 9:15 when I sat down to play and within what felt like seconds an hour flew by!! Not good people, not good.

* T.V shows: Downton Abby, Modern Family, Chopped, Katie.

It’s fall! New shows that seem to interrupt all ration and normal life activity just to watch (I know that’s bad but we don’t have a PVR or whatever you have to ‘tape’ *old school reference!!* the shows for later). If you like English period dramas Downton Abby is for you (I LOVE the feisty old lady). Modern Family is pretty much the opposite, Nathan and I have decided I’m Cam and he’s Mitchell, this show is soooo much fun. Chopped is on the Food Network and I’m not sure why I love it but it’s my fav. Katie is I think the new Oprah before she got super odd spiritual (not judging just comparing). EVeryone needs a little perky in their day.

* My Muppet pj pants

Yeah so there may have been night where they were MIA and I’ve rummaged the house in my undies just so that I could wear them to bed. They’re at least a size or two too big, which for my ever tempermental belly is an asset. And seriously, they just make me so happy and soothed. I heart Muppets.

* Pumpkin anything

With my favourite season upon us I have set out to enjoy it food intolerances and all and pumpkin has been on my brain. I’ve found yummy pumpkin spice drinks (yes, even with whip that I make!), pumpkin smoothies, pumpkin oatmeal, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin cookies (though I’ve yet to bake them they are on the list!!). I LOVE pumpkin!

* Comfort food

Along with the above list I’ve been experimenting a lot with new recipes for fall and found a great vegan, gluten free ‘mac and cheese’ recipe that’s easy and soooooo delicious with butternut squash or pumpkin in it. I also found a baked bean recipe that’s super easy, healthy and Nathan LOVED. A visit to Whole foods on the weekend has me wanting to make the brussel sprouts I bought
(already made) there that were safe for me and so so good. Nothing beats warm comfort food.

* Reading

Though the blog went by the wayside (purposefully so) over the past few months the Make Your Own Awesome book club hasn’t . We started in July and have read: ‘Room’ and ‘A Secret Kept’ and had great discussion (ok just great discussion on ‘Room’ and not so much on ‘A Secret Kept’ but I think it’ll get better with October’s book club selection). The next three months we are reading: ‘Tuesday’s with Morrie’ (a favourite movie of mine), ‘The Birth House’ and ‘Hunger Games’ book 1. I’m looking forward to the discussion part. I love hearing different thoughts and view points on the books and yet again connecting with people in a new way. If you’d like to join let me know!

* Knitting

This has been a past time for a while but lately I’ve been in a flurry getting some knitting done for Christmas. I also went a wee bit crazy at a yearly tent sale I visited (twice, oops!) and let’s just say I better enjoy knitting for at least the next 12 months or more. Incidentally the receipt from that trip was destroyed immediately after it appeared.

* Healing

Ok so this doesn’t sound fun but I’m definitely all about it. Though my GI issues seem to be an up and down thing part of healing for me in this way in just knowing how to roll with it and just relax and know that if I have a not so good day it will pass. I am feeling readiness to find out my diagnosis and also a readiness to accept it, warts and all (figuratively speaking of course!). I have so much more to write about in this area and feel so much more hope everyday surrounding it. It’s only by facing it that I feel like I can fully embrace the life that is waiting for me. A life that I feel quite confident includes sticky fingers and seeing the eyes through someone new.

* Blogging

Though I’m behind the ball today I really am enjoying writing again and I really do feel like it’s healing me along the way. Connecting with people is one of the ways I use my gifts (like really I have been trained on the topic and it’s true! More on that another time) and the blog has opened up friendships I otherwise would’ve never found and I do believe it’s only just begun.

On all of those notes, I’m starting to get the shakes. Spell tower is calling my brain, the smell of pumpkin is in the air and I should probably shower before I go meet my potential new family dr. Hmmm priorities are hard to place sometimes ;)

Have a great day!
